Song: Present by Bonnie Pink My host family that I started out with in Ueno, Tokyo was so terrible that I left after the first week. This is part one of just some of the things that went down there- part 2 will be up shortly.

**Ueno/ Tokyo are not bad places! I just had a crazy host family

    It's by Bonnie Pink...I think it's 'Present'?

  • theres gona be people like that in any country, japan is a great place though, the people there are very friendly. money always screw people up

:) 賛成です. Even though my 1st semester was bad, I stayed in Japan a total of 3 semesters. I did meet lots of very kind people (men & women). I don't hate Japan and I do think the customer service is way better there. :) The products are also a better quality and people care about their jobs more. I did go through a lot of bad things in Japan (more than most exchange students), but I did make a lot of great memories there and I made a lot of wonderful friends who I'll never forget.

  • You should never ever stay with a family that gets paid for having you, because the only reason they want you there is for the money.

  • How horrible of that family to treat you that way. You were in a strange country and knew little Japanese. Why did they even agree to be your host family if they obviously didn't want you there?

    Horrible

  • Trailer trash live everywhere, even Japan.

  • OMG that is sooo gross!!! i'm am rlly sorry you had to go through that!! i am going to japan in 10 monts and i scared lol

  • I'm sorry for your trouble. I must say your experience is not typical. Unfortunately you were hooked up with a slum landlord who runs an assembly line of tenants and home stay students to pay the rent. They exist everywhere--even Japan.

Other home stay students have reported very positive experiences with host families so I hope this doesn't dissuade you from trying again.

  • omg, im scared to go to japan now!
