First it giveth, then it taketh away!

Sorry for the camera's auto-focus going nuts. It can't handle that floor tom on the left. For all you righties, this technique can obviously be applied in mirror image.. but my ride's on the left and I had an extra floor tom, so I made it easy on myself.

As always.. if you dig this, please check out my band at

Rock on!

  • dude, you shouldnt be having to defend yourself. the chorus is fucking easy. its the easiest part for me to play. ever since i figured out how to play Red War by Probot, ive mastered that kind of pattern. (not the same but definitely similar). all you faggots that think this is sped up or edited need to learn to drum.

  • @laiban Haha yeah, Red War is very very similar. I think the only difference is First it Giveth has the little 16th note fills once in a while. Oh well, haters gonna hate. :D

  • @iendacard the 16ths are so awesome tho, they like... define the chorus! haha also, i use two toms for Red War, not just the floor one like for this song.

  • @laiban Oh yeah I agree, I love those 16ths in there!

  • @iendacard yeah i noticed how the cymals were moving nomally thats how i realised its at normal speed. also, great cover and great song! Good job!

  • @No1MarleyF Thanks! :)

  • good stuff, but you could play it harder, to give it certain grohl-like feel to it... hit harder mate!!

  • @No1MarleyF I guess so, but the thing is, it's blurry even during the verse when I'm not moving quickly. The camera I used is a digital still camera, so video is not its primary function. At the end of the chorus, you can watch as the ride cymbal wobbles and stops at a normal rate. If the video was sped up, the cymbals would be moving very differently. Seems to me that making a convincing fake would be harder than just learning the song, because obviously I'd have to fake the audio too.

  • @iendacard i believe you but the really obvious thing is why people think its sped up. Just watch the video, it does look like its sped up. Also other drummers have posted sped up drum covers and make up excuses such as "my camera was shaking" or even "blurred" (not saying your one of them) they say those things to stop the haters, but Haters gonna Hate. So you can see why people believe its sped up.

  • @No1MarleyF I don't know why people insist on believing it's sped up. Why would I fake it? I love the song, so I put up a video of myself playing it. There's nothing else to it, honestly. I didn't speed it up at all. I've been playing drums a long time, and seriously, that part isn't even hard to play, it's just a little fast.
