Tom Cunliffe uses a wireless remote for a bow thruster to bring a yacht alongside singlehanded. For the full article on Bow Thrusters, see the March 2009 issue of Yachting Monthly
@SthealthRaider a now i understand what you mean and it's true that some people think that they are experienced when they have this kind of equipment on their boats.
(or they think that they are pro navigators when they got a gps map). so enjoy your time in the waters. i'll have to wait until the ice is gone...
@SthealthRaider so u mean that thrusters are useless things? imo it's a help to get to dockor off the dock with ease, for example in windy situations. but the way it's used in this video is a nogo.
thrusters = non captain. you could do that same without bow thruster! rope the aft and then hard forward and rudder to starboard!!! Just a few sec and ur moored! im 14 and i am sailing boats like that my whole life <.<
Much cheaper method is simply to tie the bow and stern lines together, to form one long rope, step off tie the windward end up, then walk down wind taking the slack up on the other end which is attached to the other end of the boat.
Good idea. I am installing one on my Helsen 22'. Also I have an electric winch for my swing keel. Another winch for an A frame to step the mast. omiateeful
Agree with Sapient. What a nonsense. This is not a serious intruction how to dock a boat even with no wind. This not funny. A Thruster can only do what it can with its small motor.
Fault 1 jump of the boat
fault two switch of the engine before assured!! do not believe this shit.
I would make sure that the wif-fi unit is on a lanyard tied to me... Shame if it drops in the water... What next?
