NOTE: This is -not- a senior recital. It is one of two small performances I'm required to do each semester as part of my degree.

This is my third semester of college voice training (beginning of 6th overall year of voice training altogether). This piece is tricky due to the differences between the melody and accompaniment. I wasn't sure of some entrances for this reason and my breath wasn't prepared at some points. Thanks also to Bethany Rarick for recording this for me.

Let me know what you think. :]

  • Work on breath support. Holding your belly while singing isn't the most attractive thing to do.

  • @nightxwind It's an old habit. I tend to just rest my hand over my stomach because to me it feels natural, not because I'm running out of air. To be honest though, this song is murder on the support. Very long phrases. But that's not the reason for the hand thing. ^-^;;

  • LOVE IT! :D

  • (meant to add - check out Susan Graham's version - stupidly good!!)

  • The pace of this song is much slower than the markings suggested. This faster pace emotes the imagery of the nightingale much better and doesn't make it sound so laboured. This pace brings it's own technical difficulties - but on the up side, the phrases aren't so long! If you could manage this pace i can imagine this suiting you very well.

  • long hair and clothing to the ankles is great but too much flesh shows beneath the necklace ... just constructive criticism :D

  • you have come a long way...more talent now

  • Sooo good.
