The hoop house gets its name from its shape, which causes water and snow to be shed from its exterior while permitting sunrays to provide heat.

Costing around $1 per square foot, with low maintenance once constructed, hoop houses are easy to build and adapt to small land units to meet the needs of gardeners and farmers.

Planting in a protected environment guards the crop
from Mother Nature¹s whims and control the crop¹s quality, while extending the growing season.

Hoop houses are ecosystems all in themselves, and the environment inside can be manipulated to a crop¹s need.

  • also I dont see how this is an example of sustainability as your using only manufactured materials, weather or not there recycled it will still be land fill material at some point.

  • we had these on our tree nursery, when I was young. pvc is not an optimal material as the sun will weaken the material over time and the hoops will eventually break. galvanized tubing is the only option for long term use. an alternative to actually bending these pvc pipes would be to use 35-45 degree angle fittings, to not put undue stress on the pipes.
