Two Allergic People Take In A Stray

Meet Apfel In Schlafrock (named after a German dessert) the adorable kitten who found Jenny and I. She was a little dirty and a little smelly, but she was so damn cute and it was getting cold that we decided to rescue her. Jenny cleaned her up and clipper her nails. I filmed her and sneezed regularly. She is now available for adoption at the Kennebunk Animal Welfare Society.

Apfel in Schlafrock is a mouthful, so you can call her by her chosen name... Gina. She actually picked it herself.

I would be SO unhappy if I were allegic. Can't you get some treatment for the allergies? I know there's a shampoo on the market that helps get rid of the allergens? I would seriously be an unhappy person without my cats. She was very lucky to be rescued by the two of you:)) Thanks so much for doing that and then getting her a home. She looks so adorable! I wish her a good life!

She was great, I wish we could have kept her. I actually have really severe cat allergies. I was receiving allergy shots in 2005 and went into anaphylactic shock on three sereprate ocaisions. So that was the end of that. That's why I have a pet Bunny :)

If you go to your allergist they may be able to adjust your medication so you can be around her. Many people with allergies do have animals, they just work with their allergist to make it work.

Actually, I went for allergy shots for cat as recently as two years ago. But I kept having anaphylactic episodes and they had to give me epi. So I gave up on the shots. It really sucks. But I'm not allergic to Rabbits, so I have a pet Bunny. :)

GREAT NEWS! They spayed her the day after we dropped her off and she was adopted on Saturday October 6th!

Okay, this is the CUTEST kitten. I've had many, many cats in my life and the loudness of her purr, her sweetness, playfulness... seriously if I had seen this when you had her I would have taken her. That really does suck about allergies - I'm so sorry you had to give her up.

You can hear me sneeze once or twice. I am deathly allergic actually. I have an Epi-pen for allergy induced asthma. I was wearing a mask. Also, I did do a considerable amount of editing. When I sneeze the camera shakes violently. Don't want anyone getting motion sickness.
