This course is designed for the intermediate artist who wishes to paint a tropical bird in a natural tree settings. Course emphasis will be placed on creating surface textures. There are many exercises included in this course, several of which are transferrable to other subjects. Students will learn techniques necessary to develop textural contrasts ranging from background atmosphere, moss, moisture and water drops, hard and soft, lost and found edges for establishing dimension. Techniques on how to handle the color palette and building form will be demonstrated through the use of video, written text and supporting photographs. Course participants will receive support through classroom forums. Students will have the opportunity to receive critique from the instructor.
