That's me in my Mercedes with one of my Danforth anemometers in January 2009. Winds were gusting well above 60-70 mph. There were extreme gusts well over 100 that day. I had caught some at 105 mph with my top two gusts being 107 and 108 mph. These gusts are not uncommon during high pressure and low pressure gradients through the gorge. 107 is fairly low for Crown point, during extreme wind events, there are reportedly gusts to 120- 144 mph. Crown point is a great example of the Venturi effect.

I was there the same day with two friends, and it was insane. The strongest wind I have ever been in.
