I had the vinyl album of this. The coolest thing about the record was that it was a 3-sided record. It was a single vinyl record, but it had two seperate concentric tracks on one side running inside one another with completely different material. But you never knew what side that was because BOTH sides were labeled Side 2.

have been listening to alan rickman narrate "the return of the native" - and had to pause to listen this again! too funny! "looks like 'tess of the durbervilles' all over again..." :)

on hearing this as a teenager, I went into a bookshop and picked up 'return of the native' and curiously read the first sentence and giggled. Since then Ive read most of Hardy and have a keen appreciation of his writing...all thanks to this 4 minutes of excellence which I know off pat :) Thanks Python :)

When I was a teenager I didn't know much about 'Hardy' but listening to Python taught me who he was, what a Definite article is, that he wrote The Return of the Native and Tess of the d'Urbervilles the fictional area of Egdon Heath.Wasp hour was pretty funny too.
