This video means a lot to me. It's my anniversary video for Vanna and I. I started it in June and collected clips over time and found pictures of when I first got her, so some quality isn't good. Oh well. Here's our story:
I went to an auction, the day after they ran the horses through because it was quieter, a few months after my previous horse had to be put down. There was a lot of horses but nothing really looked interesting to me. My mom and godmother asked the auction owner what their cheapest horse was and he said there was a few down in this pasture. After walking over, I looked at her and it was that moment where people always say, "We connected." Vanna and I didn't. I didn't think much of her either, but my mom said we could get her, and I just wanted a horse, so I didn't really care what horse it was. My godmother put a down-payment on her and a horse for herself. I called my Nana (Grandma) on the way home and asked her if she could help me pay for her. I had $10 from my 10th birthday and I needed $115 more. I got picked her up and brought her home two days later, which was August 9th. That was the day that we actually met each other. I just kinda looked at her and fell in love. We just clicked. Time went on and things were going great. I started working with her and riding her and everything just worked out so perfectly. I went through some family issues and had to move her from my godmother's barn, after I almost lost her. She was almost stolen from me. I cried for the month I didn't see her and on the day I got her ripped out of my hands. Literally. It was a rough day but I left that place with her. I moved to my best friend's barn where I found out she was pregnant with Griffin. Vanna was under weight and had blood worms and she almost lost him. At the same time, I was going through personal issues and she was there to make me feel better. She had Griffin with no problems and things were great. When I had to give Griffin away, her and I fought and were extremely upset for the week he was gone (long story). After he came back, we were all happy and moved to my current barn. So, here we are.
I've gotten so much hate on how I train her and people have criticized the both of us. She's never going to live up to what people think she should be. She lives up to more than anything I've ever wanted in a horse. She's the most perfect horse. I remember every big step in our relationship like it was yesterday. She's my other half, my best friend, my rock, my sister, my everything. I cry sometimes because she makes me so damn happy, even after all the fights and rough patches. As long as I have her, I know everything will be okay.
