In this demonstration, Betty fixes taco bowls. These are great for entertaining, because most of the preparation can be done in advance. Each party guest composes his/her own taco bowl, so each bowl will be unique, depending on the taste of the person who constructs it. All combinations are excellent! Super quick, super easy, for the Super Bowl!!!
INGREDIENTS:
1 lb. ground beef
1 pkg. taco mix
2/3 cup water
1 can (approx. 16 oz.) refried beans
1 cup Shredded Mexican cheese
1 cup mashed avocado
1 tsp lemon juice
1 cup chopped fresh tomatoes
1 cup chopped green peppers, red peppers, or combination of green and red peppers
1 cup medium black (ripe) pitted olives
1 cup pimiento-stuffed green olives
1 cup coarsely crushed Doritos (Spicy Nacho flavor)
1 cup sour cream
1 cup snipped green onions
1 cup chopped cilantro
Brown the ground beef. Add the taco flavoring and 2/3 cup water, and cook on top of stove for about 5 minutes. Turn off the heat, and heat this up right before serving. Heat the refried beans right before serving, also. Peel and mash the avocado, adding 1 teaspoon of lemon juice. Place the avocado in a serving bowl. Chop all of the ingredients that are to be chopped, and place each in a separate serving bowl. Also, place the sour cream and the crushed Doritos in separate serving bowls. Finally, place the beef taco mixture and the heated refried beans in separate serving bowls. To serve, let each guest "build" their own taco bowl, by adding ingredients they desire from the individual serving bowls. They may use as much or as little (even skip some) if they like! They will be sure to have great fun making their taco bowl, and they will find it delicious!
This look super yummy and fun! Plus everyone gets only what they want and not what they don't want. I'm definently going to try this out. Thanks for the video!

Yes, that's exactly the idea--tacos made to order! Thanks for your nice comment! I hope you enjoy your taco bowls!

This is an interesting concept, tacos without a taco shell. I guess it makes it easier than having to fry up a lot of tortillas and shape them into shells. For your non-US viewers, cilantro is also known as coriander in the UK, NZ, and Australia, although the term 'cilantro' is gaining popularity. Thanks for the recipe!

You are very welcome! When I started making taco bowls (letting people fill their own bowls), my family wanted it every night for dinner for a couple of weeks! They could vary it enough that it seemed different, and they have never gotten tired of it! I hope you enjoy the recipe! Thanks for the info on cilantro and coriander. We refer to the leafy stuff as cilantro and the seed as coriander!
