This might be the start of an experiment - I have tried to learn for 2.5 years now, and thought it might be fun to record myself and see how my playing develops over time... in this Klezmer dance tune, I first rush in the right-hand, then miss notes and all sorts of other un-mentionable stuff. The left hand is pretty uncreative, but if this only serves to get me to do some proper slow practise, seeing how many people view this video it will have been worth it...possibly.
did you get your accordion in lewisham?!

@howbadaiuu1 The way to learn any musical style is to listen, listen and then listen some more. If you want to improvise 'in a klezmer style', I recommend learning some actual klezmer tunes first. That way, your ears and your fingers will become accustomed to some typical phrases that recur in the genre - and, who knows? you might even get addicted.

Sounds great! I was wondering if there was any specific technique for playing just improv accordion music that sounds klezmer. All I know is to play in harmonic minor, but when I improvise in harmonic minor it tends to sound more middle- Eastern.

There will be a show 100% accordion on October 16th and 17th 2010 in Paris, at the "Pavillon Baltard" representing all music styles through accordion (jazz, tango, classical, electro, klezmer, contemporary). It's called L'Odyssée de l'Accordéon, check out their teaser on Youtube or on their website!

He's dead, but he lives on in our hearts and we are lucky for that. His death can't erase the life that went before it.
