For this video I'll talk about why I feel it's important to practice physically writing Japanese. It's a component of study that I feel is way overlooked and is not done with enough frequency in order for those learning Japanese to effectively learn from it.

Practicing writing Japanese (either by writing diaries, journals, compositions, short stories, etc.) will greatly enhance the abilities of any student of Japanese. It takes time, but the effort expended on it will pay off as your Japanese improves.

As for me, it takes me on average, anywhere from 1.5 - 2 hrs. to write one page (on college ruled paper, every other line). I do not churn them out quickly, but I try to write at least 1 page a week. Keeping to a schedule will maintain consistency and you'll see improvements readily.
