The Pope is not a "ruler" of the Church.. just as a Bishop is not the "ruler" of his diocese.
Yes I acknowledge the Pope as holding primacy over every other Bishop - cause how Christ let it be.

Just that you know.. I am not Roman Catholic.. I am Eastern Catholic, in other words Orthodox in tradition and liturgy but in full communion with St Peter.

Amen to your Bishop - for he is a Bishop of the Church and speaks the truth; as Bishops should. Like I said before - the Church is still one - there are no "Churches". Some day our Blessed Lord will gather his flock together - that I am sure cause I trust in Him.

Nope I very well know why the split occured. Foolish egoistic men on both sides illicitly excommunicating each other. The excommunication itself was nullified in 1965 by Pope Paul VI and the Patriarch of Constantinople.
