Naomi Klein talks about her new book, The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism. Speaking at a benefit event for the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, a social justice research institute. Naomi Klein explodes the myth that the global free market triumphed democratically. Exposing the thinking, the money trail and the puppet strings behind the world-changing crises and wars of the last four decades, The Shock Doctrine is the gripping story of how America's "free market" policies have come to dominate the world-- through the exploitation of disaster-shocked people and countries.

when I think about what "freedom" means to unimaginative little pissants such as yourself-yes, my hands shake, my blood boils, my heart hurts. Speaking of funny-you're not...and you thought Naomi Klein was boring.
Useful idiot is a term the communists used to describe intellectuals, academics, politicians, and other fools who would parrot the Party Line for them and praise the glories of communism in their native countries.
Even the commies derided such people for being taken in by the ideological propaganda masking raw power.
Wake me up when this woman presents an actual argument for central planning, or whatever the hell it is she advocates.
As far as I can tell, she is the quintessential anti-intellectual blabbermouth. The obsession with Milton Friedman only highlights the freakish nature of her diatribes against liberty.
I guess in her Utopia, Barney Frank would be planning production or what? Does she ever do anything than obsess over Friedman and denounce markets? I'm waiting for the punchline.
She's taking Friedman out of context. What he meant was that economic crises (such as the Great Depression, other serious recessions, etc.) cause people to question the status quo and usually look for alternatives. Klein claims that he wanted to cause crises that would tip the scale in his favor - make people want to enact his policy recommendations. He never supported anything like what Klein is implying.

I mean does she even understand that those protesters were fighting for political and economic freedom?
