Yes it did. In the early days of film until 1934 when they enforced the Production Code. Film makers were allowed more freedom of expression in their work.

nice. its interesting to see this and some of the animation techniques they were using already then like squash and stretch.

This must have been what, 1919? Nicely animated for the time. Studios were still producing a lot of stuff not nearly as naturalistic in movement nor as well drawn as this a decade later.
