Renata Scotto sings Il Pirata

Renata Scotto nella grande madness scene dal Pirata di Bellini, un altro ruolo che come la precedente Medea non ebbe l'occasione di affrontare per intero e sul palcoscenico, ma che ci lascia intravedere una Imogene diversa e penetrante, una lettura mai sopra le righe e come sempre meravigliosa di un personaggio che forse non sentiva ancora suo. Lorin Maazel dirige bene, in un repertorio che come per Cherubini non ha affrontato spesso.

So many dislikes - they should listen to this on their knees!!

Amazing - Scotto is so underated - one of the great renditions of this aria if only she had sung the complete role, Beatrice di Tenda and Puritani.

So many dislikes? Why is that I do not understand, surely this is a very good delivery of this aria? Full of drama and beauty? I know that Scotto can sometimes make some "ugly noises" but this she does wonderfully.
