I remember this movie shortly after it was released and for the time was quite a creepy thriller. It was often shown on either the U.S. cable channels HBO or the Movie Channel around 1982. Been wanting to see this after 27-28 years and too bad it's not on Netflix or Amazon. Always loved those Aussie thrillers from the late 70's, like Thirst, Patrick, The Survivor...
The U.S. film Sole Survivor from '82 was also a low-budget creepy thriller with a similar plot.
@DisasterFlicks I didn't say "79", but anyway it's pretty common for ripoffs to beat out their inspiration to the theater, because they can be made so quickly as to anticipate the inspiration's success based purely on it being announced in Variety or something.
@DisasterFlicks Concorde Affair 79 is the best Airport ripoff of them all. Great cast but most of all an excellent Stelvio Cipriani score. A great miniature plane crash too (all here on youtube).
There is an American film called "Sole Survivor" that came out in 1982. Somewhat of the same idea; one woman survives a plane crash. But, this movie spawned the Final Destination series, in that death is not happy that the woman survives...
It's really creepy, atmospheric; well shot film. I saw it in those awesome giant VHS boxes at an old video store recently...man, good times.
'and Joseph Cotten as "The Priest"' - how many dodgy horror films had that as a credit somewhere
