Sal's Death: excerpt from "FAMILY MATTERS"

Last summer, my friend Dan and I sat down and wrote a mafia short in less than 24 hours. We took shifts writing and sleeping, and we finished with a script we called "FAMILY MATTERS." It was a movie about the importance of family.

We tried to organize and shoot it around the schedule of our friends and actors from out of town, who work 40 hour a week jobs. It ended up not being completed, but the footage we have is pretty cool.

A year later, dan and I sat down and edited the last scene, where the main character, Jimmy kills his uncle, the villainous Sal.

We added a CG blood splatter because we did not have stock footage of blow out for the back of his head. We also added the muzzle flash, via stock footage from the internet. I think the flash is pretty cool, but the blood is a bit hokey. Either way, I am proud of this scene, and hope to someday be able to do the script justice.

In the mean time, enjoy the rough cut of the final scene in the film

Except for that silly blood thing, I dig it. Better sound (voice wise) too and it'd be effing spectacular. <3
