Yes, it's lovely to hear the tune - the notes - with the time values written. I'm not saying I prefer that or the holding back.

The orchestras' viola sections play this melody with gaps at times. It's lovely. Though I've played in a student orchestra the whole realised symphony 10 (1989 Cooke, Goldschmidt, 2 Matthews revised version), I don't know the score for any appearance of the viola tune. Though I like the performance a lot, you don't hold back in tempo as the melody continues towards the end, which the orchestras mostly do, and I've gotten so used to I think it's as natural as milk from a cow.

you have some tiny gaps in between the notes where you shift or change strings and there should be no gaps.
