五祖拳傳統武術, Green Lion ritual, a brief background; The green lion represent the Manchu that is why the bald forehead and long wavy hairs, the ferocity and brutality of the Manchu conquest of China is represented by the way the green lion moves with such fierceness. The warriors with assorted weapons running around the lion and eventually cornering it represent the Hans of the Ming dynasty resisting the Manchu's, the forehead of the green lion has the characters of 王 "Wong" meaning King. This ritual requires at least 50 warriors to capture the green lion king. That is why we will never or very rare to see the green lion appearing in blessing ceremonies such as weddings, business inaguration or anniversaries.
