Justin Amash also voted against the NDAA....but he is an explicit adherent of Ron Paul the prominant member you alluded to, and the party hates him and is atttempting to gerrymander he seat away.

The Republican party used to be the liberal (northern) party and the Democratic party used the be the conservative (southern) party. Things started to change in the 20th century with both parties acquiring liberal/conservative wings. How the Democratic party came to be Liberal an how the Republican party came to be Conservative was due to the Republican party's Southern Strategy.
