  • They took it seriously because there was NOTHING ELSE LIKE IT. Looking back so many decades later, when we are spoilt for choice with sci-fi shows and special effects coming out of our ears, it is easy to forget that back then the only other "space" shows were such as Lost in Space.

Star Trek broke the mould and was a trend setter, the original template that heralded all the shows we now take for granted.

Sure its dated now, but back then it was pioneering amd award winning.

  • Give me the studio models any day...more realistic.

  • Tell me mr spock was not bad ass with his epic beard... Ahh the old days when this was shown before the remastering of it. Should be known that mirror mirrior was aired before the defiant incident. Some of u would know what that mean if u follow the time lines well.

  • You know, they should have put some more "Mirror Markings" on the Mirror Enterprise. All I see is the "I.S.S." difference on the hull. I can make out the structural difference on the ship as well. The different bridge module and bussard collectors... but I would have liked to have seen the Terran Empire symbol on it somewhere.

  • In a fanfiction I wrote, the Mirror Universe episode 'Dagger of the Mind' did not have a Nueral Nuetralizer. It was called the Nueral AGONIZER!!!! In 'The Changeling', Nomad was instead called Nimrod(check name's origin yourselves...) and the Doomsday Machine was turned into a super Dreadnaught Starship complete with 5 nacelles and an upper saucer section. Wild?

  • To amend my last comment, I just checked Memory Alpha's wiki page on this episode, and it has a still frame from the remastered version which shows "I.S.S. Enterprise" on the upper hull, so they did do their due diligence. My intention was never to attack you, @Trekfreek, but merely to clear up a minor, unimportant misconception. No worries, dude. :)

  • @Trekfreek Your comment wasn't that they forgot to change "USS" to "ISS", but that they should've replaced the "NCC" in the mirror Enterprise's call letters, so I seem to've read your post correctly. Anyway, there only seems to be one shot of the mirror Enterprise which shows the top of the saucer, and with the compressed 360p video it's hard to tell whether they changed the "U" to an "I" — the last shot, if I'm not mistaken, shows the Enterprise from our universe, hence the "USS".

  • @Shunnabunich I know that! I'm pointing out that the people who made the new FX forgot to fix the "USS" part on the evil ship. Please don't respond if your not going to read my post first.

  • @Trekfreek "ISS" (Imperial Space Ship) took the place of "USS" (United Space Ship) in the names of mirror universe ships, not the "NCC" portion which is merely part of the ship's registration number.

  • This is supose to be better than the original FX but they for got to chainge Enterprises call letters from NCC-1701 to ISS-1701.

  • @LegateShatner

I know I am responding to a 2 year old post, but...

The version of the Enterprise they used for the ISS Enterprise was from the second pilot. The bridge is taller on the saucer, the front ends of the nacelles have those lance-like projections and the back ends of the nacelles have the hole pattern as opposed to the 1/3rd sphere sticking out.

Using the 2nd pilot version was deliberate on the part of the remastering gurus.
