How's the ADC on these things? Is it worth the price in terms of quality?

@Chippy569 when recording audio you should always try to use an external drive for stability and greater transfer speeds

All I am new to this I need to buy a audio interface like this one.Would it work with logic 8or do you have to use the motu software

@Barrymc100 it will work just fine with Logic 8 (that's what I use) -- once you have the 8pre plugged in and turned on, make sure its indicator lights say "Interface." Then, open Logic. Go to your audio preferences and make sure the 8pre is selected as your device. Voila, good to go.

Jon - I'm using mine with an older MacBook pro. any computer with FireWire will work, though.

@swedishpaul sure! I have a suuuuper cheapo Superlux drum mic set. That kick mic is combined with my homemade subkick -- I have another video on that. I have an SM57 on snare. It has since been replaced with a Heil PR20UT which I like way more. I also have replaced the pencil condensers with Rode NT1a's.

@pepsidude I'm pretty sure an internal drive will be more stable, as well as running at SATA speed instead of FireWire, or worse, USB.

I have used 2 8 pres with my 1.3ghz Mac power book(2 gig ram) for 2 years without any problems or noise. The lap top is about 6 years old at this point.
Using logic 8 pro.
I have them connected as follows.
8pre 1 & 2 connected via adat cable, FireWire 400 cable from 8 pre 1 to external drive, external drive to laptop via FW 800 cable.
Cool drums by the way.

@electricruler Glad to hear you've had success with yours as well. Why are you using an external drive though? (Just curious)
