I have made an amplifier that does duty as the other channel for my Hacker Gondolier.
It was a 6SL7GT and a 6V6. Not enough gain to fully drive the 6V6.
Tried using the 'spare' triode as a boot-strapped cathode follower. Not much difference.
I tried a more sensitive o/p valve (6CH6). Better (louder), but I need more gain.
What gain does the EF37A deliver?
Send me a private message if you wish to discuss my problem.
Can you send me a private message?
I seek advice relating to my own amplifier

Do you have a website about this kinda of stuff? Building the amps and such?
I have an interest in 78s but no physical equip. I have no idea what to buy or where to start.

I don't know of a web page as such. I ran my own television repair business for around 40 years and used this knowledge repair these players obtained from customers, junk sales and rubbish tips. Amplifier building is not an easy job unless you have some radio knowledge and valve [tube] technology if you want to take the vintage route. Sound quality is superb in the flesh. Start with an old record player or radio gram. They can be obtained for next to nothing often working. then experiment! J.

Hello Rob, Yes it sounds fantastic when played in the raw. The reverse side is 'Chicago' again a really cracking version of it. Cheers, John.

Hi J
Many thanks for the comments I have been doing up a few old players both electric and gramophone for a while now and find great fun in doing so i have a few record players waiting for my attention. i am just getting into you-tube postings, and have found educational as i find out things from others.

Hello Richard, Great to know you find these videos interesting. Records and the instruments to play them on has been an interest of mine since childhood. I have many players and grams and hope to post a few more soon. John.
