@barrygioportmorien1 Thanks for this info. I was a big Johnny Burnette fan, myself, but most people I know have never heard of him. I didn't realize he was well known in Canada as well.

He was an excellent Rockabilly performer before the word came along. I also enjoy his later hits with strings like You're Sixteen and Dreamin'. A great talent.

"So I met this Cameronian (scotish guy), in down town Nairobi 1959. He was playing this record on the Duke-Box; drinking his pint of lager. Another 'Dear-John'... What with this song and Hank William's Wedding Bells: I guess I heard them often while I was out there."

i'm 14, and I LOVE this music. I wish this music could come back, because it's just...better! I love the strings in this song. It adds so much to his voice.

@telstar9
Actually Johnny burnette was a very well known singer here in Canada, and the U.S. he grew up in Memphis with Elvis, and wrote a number of songs for Ricky Nelson. check him out, he has a number of great recordings. he died young, in 1964, in a drowning accident.

Just one more thing...Jim Reeves is beyond awesome..."Snowflake"..."Distant Drums"..."Four Walls"...can we please bring back 'polished country'?...probably not...

I guess it's an age thing, Being born in 1944, I just detest most of what they are passing off as country music today.

Thank you so much for posting this... won't go into my memories...just thanks.
It was still the era when we had "singers and musicians" instead of "yellers and noisicians"...and real violins! We held each other when we danced...and songs ended in about three minutes. Thank you Mr. Burnette...

You're welcome, I feel the same as you. He and another singer I loved died the same year, Jim Reeves.
