  • impressively big scenes but it could use some continuous surface heuristics so it isn't so needlessly holed which ruins the illusion entirely.

    surface continuity should be able to close small featureless holes like windows.

    similarly the sky should be captured at a default distance. volumetric peristence between multiple angles should be able to place the sky as 'far' instead of within if it has no matching features.

    basically force it to make something for all the area of each photo.

  • Imagine this "game" on every Android device on the planet! User's could map the world from the street view.

  • Dr. Furukawa, do you think future game consoles will be able to incorporate this technology into future games or will computers, even ten years from now, be too slow to render at 30fps such dense geometry? This would be absolutely amazing for augmented reality games too! I can see this easily being very popular for tourism and real estate.
