If no one has answered you yet, manual focus is better when you want a specific object and is pretty easy to control, I usually hold the camera with my right hand and the lcd screen in the other and turn the focus wheel with my left middle finger and the video will usually not shake.

Wow! This looks fabulous. Do you have anything posted that would show how it does in low-light situations? I shoot a lot of piano recitals and the light is always very low. I'm very unhappy with the results I'm getting from the camera I'm using now (check out my videos to see what I mean). Also, do you know if there would be any problems using this with FCE 4.0.1? Thanks.

@ShagBaby - This camera works well in low light as long as you increase the gain to 18db...but you will see some grain in the footage. It also does fine in final cut express as long as you know how to import the files ( I think FCE converts the files anyway).

Amazing shots! I have this camera and cannot get it to focus when I zoom or am filming close.Specifically been trying to video a brown widow spider in my house. Can you tell me what you set the camera to for this closeup quality?

I experienced the same problem with instant auto focus and regular af. So, what i had to do was to go to manual, pull back to wide, and actually move my camera right up close. I am a bit pissed about the auto focus and I am trying to find out a better way but, that is how I was able to shoot real close up and not loose the focal point.

What exactly is the problem? Can I see any of your video? Do you have a Vimeo account? IS there a problem with Adobe reading Flash. Are you importing it in true HD (1920x1080)? Is the camera hooked in with a USB 2 or are you importing off the card?

Really nice! I have the same camcorder! I am desperately trying to get the same quality out of my raw footage when converting, but it just ends up looking really bad. Could you tell me which codec and editing software you are using? All my footage was shot at 60i, and now I want to get as good quality as possible out of it for viewing on a PC. Many thanks If you could assist me...

I am using an imac and imovie 09. It works well in final cut as well. I am not sure what program you are using on your PC. Let me know and I will try to assist you.
