After another week in Greece, Alexandria really began to feel the impact of her mothers absence.
Going out pretty much all day and night with her brother and friends had been enough to make her forget for a short while at first but now she needed answers and she planned on getting them during dinner.

"Dad could you please pass the salt?" she asked innocently enough
He obligingly passed the salt down the table toward her
"and too please"
He passed that too to her
"and tell me when mums coming home from the hospital"

It took a couple of seconds for him to realize that what she'd requested, wasn't on the enormous dinning table but once he did...it was very clear.

Shaking and red with anger all the way to the roots of his prematurely grey hair, Mr. Thermopolis spoke

"Alexandria this is not polite dinner conversation to have when we have guests in the house"
"I havent seen her in almost a year and I-" Alexandria began to protest
"Not right now Alexandria" though his voice was barely a whiper it seemed to boom in the dead quite room.
Alexandria blinked back her surprise, her fatherd never actually yelled at her quite so intensely before

"okay" she said meekly, like a child just been told off "sorry"

He released the vicelike grip he'd had on his silverware.
The body of his fork visibly bent near the top, he started in on his dinner again and it wasnt long before the chorus of metal hitting china resumed.
Cutting viciously into her steak, Alexandria suddenly couldn't wait to get out of the house again tonight.
