My life after Bartholomew, continued. I had to adjust from a life filled with wonderful people, action, and travel and wonder to what? We'll, there was me. In the end we are the way to the truth of our own light. So, I had to make the journey back.

One of the things that carried me the most was the knowing that Light of Being not only exists, but allows everything else to exist. This, whatever is arising in this moment, is it. You don't have to drop all your problems to find this Light. It is here... now. It is what you are. It is possible for you to find it, now. Anything can happen. There are no favorites and there are no rules. Use the power of whatever your situation is. It does not take time. Dare to dive inside and ask, "What's there?" "Who am I?"

What I found made Bartholomew's leaving his greatest gift of all.

  • I would say there is NO WAY to enlighten - in terms of a method or formula or technique or strategy - but to come to such a realistaion, there are ways that reveal the working of our mind to our own awareness in a way that allows acceptance. Unenlightenment rests on a non acceptance of Reality as it is.

The 'not doing' allows What is Already Present, to Rise to Obviousness, so noticing what IS here with deeper honesty and willingness is not doing the mind of story. No need to kill the story.

  • @livingcircle I think in summary, there is no 'one way' to enlighten. Some people do it via austerity, some through pain, and many teachers will now say you can just as easily do it through joy. Which makes sense if, as you say, it's already present, but just needs 'uncovering'.

  • @Hologhoul Thought suggests a take on reality that is not truth. Amidst the thought of a split mind in great pain, Eckhart's mind suddenly flipped into a recognition. I say flipped because mind always tries to grasp in its own terms - which IS the very acting out of a split mind. Enlightenment is of 'that which is already the case'. The essential block must be the unconscious presumption from which we act as if Truth's awareness were not already so. Notice allowing what is already here, to be.

  • Dear Mary, your witness, shared with such candour and honouring, shines a true beauty of being. I resonate with your gift of such a heartbreak turned to grace. Of a grace that is closer to us than now - but no distance at all from a present willingness.

Living out from such a willingness, finds good company in you and in gratitude, these words...

  • The bit about Echhart Tolle finding his enlightenment during depression, and out of the blue is great. But it does jar slightly with elements in many teachings saying that all 'strands' have to be aligned before such enlightenment can occur?

  • In Appreciation.
