Carnatic vocalist M.S.Subbulakshmi in her 1947 Hindi version of her Tamil film Meera.

Music inspiration: Dilip Kumar Roy; Music direction: S.V.Venkatraman, G.Ramanathan & Naresh Bhattacharya. Lyrics: traditional (Meerabai) and adapted by Pt. Narendra Sharma. Produced by Chandraprabha Cinetone.

Crackling sound in broadcast when recorded from Doordarshan in 1991. Read my accompanying article at http://cinemacorridor.blogspot.com/2009/12/m-s-subbulakshmis-hindi-meera-1947...

  • at the end that two men are not talking about meera . . its about our amma!!!

  • krishna's idol is soooooooooooo sweeeet . . .

  • Wonder what it feels like watching it in theatre,no wonder people were mesmerized,I would have sat in the theatre till I died :-)))

  • This song appeals more in the recorded versions than in this film, because MS is a distraction in this video.Don't know where to concentrate,Amma's divine face or Amma's divine song.

  • AWESOME!!!

  • Interestingly only parts of this movie were re-enacted (mostly the songs, which differed from the Tamil versions and some dialogues). A lot of portions were dubbed over. In the chorus music that follows this Bhajan, one can clearly make out the words "Raadhai Manaala" (Lord of Radha) which carried over from the Tamil version, unchanged.

  • Thanks a million for this video!! God Bless !! Jai Radhe Krsna

  • Thank you so much for sharing this video. Such beautiful music and mind-blowing lyrics....takes one in another world, world of love and joy....creates longing for the Lord. I can't thank enough....MS Subbulakshmi has divine beauty and grace, no one else could have been able to play the part of Meerabai better than her. I pay my obeisance to her.

  • GREAT AND THANKS
