Everyone should read the book. The German woman is bats**t crazy!
The tactical battle scenes ought to be taught at West Point. Christian spends most of the plot trying to be as effective a killer as Capt. Hartenburg.

I had read the book some years ago and since then its been one of my fav. and now ive just realised that a film was also made based on it and with such tremendously talented actors. this scene is very similar in the book.

O ! I am nicely suprised that someone red and still remember this realy outstanding book. Irwin Shaw is my favorite autor.
Evening in Byzantium (1973) is another masterpiece.
