First. In naval operation you use english not spanish. Second. US Navy Captain does not say "This is captain of this ship speaking", he tells his name rank and the name of the ship. Third. That is an old naval joke that is repeatedly told for some 60 years now and the lighthouse tend to change nationalilty depending on who tells the joke.

This story is in "The 7 habits of highly effective people" by Stephen Covey. He claims to have got it from some US Navy manual some time ago.. This looks a cooked up story done later on

I've misunderstood, war in Spain we stayed away for not participating in it, something different in the rest of Europe, when I said "you´re welcome" was by for the help provided by Spain to the U.S. for the war in the independence, simple irony ... I have anyway for good efforts of Americans in different conflicts, although some I'm not entirely agree, although my vision towards the United States is generally good,;)

You despised them by forgetting their sacrifices just asking when did we ever help you. Your help against Great Britain was repaid in kind in 1941. So the "you're welcome" bit was rather insulting even though I know you didn't mean it in that way.

I was a soldier, and for 8 years I'm a cop, I know what you're talking about, never despised to any soldier who has gone to die in distant land, even more, in my comments did not say anything, I have friends who were in Iraq in 2004 and fought alongside Americans, now I have friends who are in afganistan, just comment that Spain fought for the U.S. in its war of independence against england, greetings from Spain.

Now there's somehing I can agree with. So please, don't insult the memory of American soldiers killed on foreign land by putting into question when did we ever help you. Their sacrifices were too great to be this easily forgotten.

You're right about what that Spanish government of the time was against the Nazis when Germany had lost the war, we must recognize the historical value of the two countries at different times, Spain is part of europe and europe and the united states economic and military allies, defending both the Western lifestyle, in the present context this alliance is necessary to continue to exist, I hope that we'll both agree that, greetings friend.
