Beautiful lady!

@deathwaitsforevryone You need to increase your volume for the sake of your listeners.

I don't know how to describe my voice but people have told me it's soft and relaxed so yeah I get asked to repeat myself a lot.

how can i increase my volume?

You need to retrain your 'inner' ear (which is how you recognize your own voice) to accept a larger volume. It takes persistence but is worth the effort.

Just what I needed..thanks for this Nancy. I have a low and soft voice and lack of confidence when speaking. I really want to sound clear and confidant esp. in business situations. Everytime I have projected my voice, though, I feel like I am shouting and coming across as aggressive. Is this true, or just a false feeling, am not sure. How can I actually know "how much" to project and get to that right amount of loudness. Is there a technique to determine this. Thank you!

@leher000 You are not alone. Those who are soft-spoken think they are shouting when they increase their volume. Happens every time. Were you to record yourself speaking with more volume, you would hear that it sounds normal. The technique to learn how to regulate your volume is part of what I teach. When you learn how to use your chest cavity to power your voice instead of your throat and voice box, your volume increases naturally to some degree. (See next reply for more info.

@leher000 Your next step is to work on volume so that you can retrain your 'inner' ear to recognize what is normal. After volume we work on projection which is the ability to increase your volume without shouting. You should check out my DVD training on my website.

@BecaJohns1 Thanks. It's amazing what projection can do for the voice.
