We went to Shriners Hospital yesterday and her specialists activated her prosthetic!!!! She's such a smarty baby. She is already on her way to mastering using it. She is amazing. Thank you Shriners and Shriners Hospitals for Children in Springfield!!!
The hand in this video was a bit of a
challenge for her....she had to make it close but she couldn't really move her left arm once she grabbed whatever she was getting because the hand would
then open back up. Her new one (traditional hook type) stays closed until she makes it open which seems to work a lot better

she had a blood clot form in her arm at around 6 weeks gestation, causing her hand and forearm to stop forming/growing. As for the 'body powered' thing, basically it means it's not electric. There is a harness and cable system which is sort of looped around her opposing (right) shoulder, when she moves her shorty (left) arm, the cable moves with her to manipulate the prosthetic's hand and make it open or close.

i'm still figuring out this posting from my phone thing. Anyway, taylor had her prosthetic arm activated on july 14th...this video was made not even 48 hours after activation and she has already figured it out. She can now use two hands to open and close things like ziplock baggies, markers, pens, etc. She's doing awesome! Thanks to all the wonderful shriners and shriners hospitals for children in springfield ma, kristy at rise (we miss you),and johanne and kristin at north country.
