    Leo's concept of a totem is different. He is that kind of a person who would no longer want to live the very moment his mind starts getting confused with dreams and reality. Rather than using his totem as a warning signal against his dream world, he wishes to end his life and not continue with a life of uncertainty. In the scene just before they board the helicopter, Leo uses the top just to remind himself of his wife while his gun slowly creeps up to his head level; suicidal tendencies.
