Brent Mason (and Vince Gill) - Don't Try This At Home

It's a byproduct of musical immaturity, in my opinion. I used to get all caught up into myself - we all have phases.

I keep returning to this video (and others) after a year and it never ceases to amaze me how much crap litters the commentary. Why can't youtube critics just enjoy the music without turning every damn guitar video into the Olympics?

Sure Vai and others are great players (in their sleep, if you like) but the brilliance of Brent Mason is his studio work and producing riffs and melodies that make records better. Check out "Steamy Windows" by K.Chesney.

Nashville session guys like Brent Mason are probably some of the most accomplished musicians out there. Think before you run your mouth and make ignorant comments like that.

I'm not saying Mason isn't a good player. But, I thought Gill was a good player and could play this also.  If you think my comments are ignorant, believe me rockers like Vai, Petrucci, etc could play this in their sleep. The only difference between good and great players is only about 4 more hours of practice per day. and not the genre that they play.

i wish they'd keep the little jazzy quips out of his playing, jazz is great but this is country guitar
