This video won second place in the college feature division. The film was produced in Madagascar in May 2008 as part of a study abroad program through Michigan State University. It was completed as part of a Masters project for the Knight Centers program for Environmental Journalism. Anisa set out to bring more attention to an issue that is seriously under-reported and urgent the extinction crisis. Madagascar was a perfect setting to illuminate this issue because it has lost 90% of its natural resources and habitat to deforestation, and as a result a great number of species found only there are threatened with extinction. Anisa brings this struggle to light through interviews with organizations working to protect remaining species as well as locals. Anisa points out that The nation doesnt have much time left before potential disaster. The documentary also shows the unique biodiversity of Madagascar that are little understood and seldom seen. Anisa is a college student at Michigan State University in the Knight Center for Environmental Journalism located in East Lansing, Michigan, USA.
