We thought this was a natural gas well they were digging, but can't find anything online about a purposeful gas burn off for a gas well, only oil wells. Anyone know anything about it?

  • This is my job actually, might even be company. Gas well flaring is a necessary when a pipeline isn't ready to go. Or more commonly in an instance where a company would like to know what their well is capable of so they can install the right pipeline and compressors or even obtain information about the well itself.

Some of our customers only have a certain percentage of gas they can sell into a pipeline while at the same time they want to flow harder than that. So we flare what they cant sell.
