Unsure if they actually left the air after this tape ended, maybe they just took a nap.

  • This may not be the Early 90's because the GBH 44' logo replaced the 3-D 44 logo at about 1995, the same with WGBH 2, plus NOVA's kaboom Aired at around 1997

  • I had to guess at the probable time frame of this one. Thanks for the info. I will update the info as: 1997.

  • When did the GBH 2 & GBH 44 logos really debut MSTS1? 1994? 1995? 1996? or 1997?

  • Well the one shown here just seems to be a modified version of the original from the early 70's with the double-perspective lines removed, and may be chopped a bit too... But they have since returned to the old one. Sorry, but I don't know when exactly they shifted to this "'GBH" concept. Some time in the 90's...

  • @WestWash97 The reason why there's a reference to it is because WGBH/WGBX's transmitter is located in the now-CBS Television digital facility in Needham - also used by WBZ-TV ch4 (CBS), WSBK-TV ch38 (MNTV), and IIRC also WHDH-TV ch7 (NBC), WLVI-TV ch56 (CW), and a few others - in other words, Needham is where (IIRC) the major Boston TV stations have their transmitters.

  • 0:31-0:36 sounds like an oxymoron: if the station is owned and operated by the WGBH Educational Foundation, why does the VO announcer make a huge reference to the Westinghouse Broadcasting Corporation, when the two are completely different entities in Boston?

  • OK, the new GBH/GBX look took place in July 1994. I remember this very well. They must have only ran this older ID bumper late at night, during sign-off, after that time.

  • These were actually highlights from the TV Special "Over New England" though the music used was different from what's heard here.

  • Yes.

  • WGBX 44 is the best.

  • That old id is actually from 1992

  • And Indeed it was 1995 because I found it on the web

  • Well I just found out that the "GBH" 2 & 44 logos debuted in 1995

  • The 90's GBH logos didn't happen in 1996, it happened in 1995
