I have researched Alfalfa, and I read that they are very high in protien that some horses don't need. And I was wondering if it's ok for a 12 year old, QH gelding that does about 1-2 hours of work a day? I believe he is 1,100 lbs last I checked? I am planning on buying him from a friend and I need to kinda switch around his feed, but I'm not sure about this "Alfalfa"?

Why is this a video a "video response" to my horse training video? It has nothing to do with horse training. Kind of misleading really.

Itrocha, What I think happened is someone else must have posted my video with yours. I don't post them to other sites. As a good horseman, you know that good horse management, feeding and care are critical to a successful training program. I hope you enjoy the videos.

I have heard from many different sources that alfalfa isn't good for Morgans, yet when I googled Morgans and alfalfa I could find no information on it. Have you ever heard of anything like this? And if so why is it bad to feed Morgans alfalfa?

@GoldenOakFarm The best advice always comes from your Veterinarian or Instructor, knowledgeable people who know your horse. Some breeds of horses are more sensitive to alfalfa because it is high in protein and calcium. These breeds, like some warmbloods, can be more likely to suffer certain metabolic disorders, such as colic, founder, or tying up, from the richer alfalfa than other hays and must be fed sparingly, if at all. Your Veterinarian will be your best resource for advice for your horse.
