Unfortunately, there are some, who only can hear "some flaws" in the high range of Gobbi's voice. Yes, he didn't have THE BEST voice ever heard but I'm yet to hear a baritono, who could by voice alone make with audience anything he wanted. I got to listen to Gobbi when I was a child, they were old 78 disks then. I didn't need to see him. Yes, I've heard Herlea, Lisitsian, and Merrill, they were great, but Gobbi was unique in his greatness. The greatest. Thanks for posting this.

There is a realism to Gobbi's delivery of
the text and musical phrases which is
magnificent. This alone ranks him as
one of the great baritones of his time.
