Heavens to Murgatroid! THANKS for posting! I fondly recall watching this syndicated series on local TV in the late 70's & early 80's! Imdb.com says it ran from '52 to '88! Interesting that Robert Clarke plays the young writer (Mr Wainwright) in this episode. He was a regular on a similar inspirational dramatic series produced by the Seventh Day Adventist Church called "Faith for Today" (also known as "Westbrook Hospital" in some markets) which I also watched around the same time. This is great you have this posted. Are you familiar with "Patterns for Living"? I'm not sure if its the same show as "This is The Life" but from the 70s/80s or an entirely different production. About 4 years ago my local Christian Television Network (KNLJ) would show "Patterns for Living" every Sat at 2 am. I would stay up specifically to watch the show, but have never been able to find a single bit of information about it.

"The Fisher Family" was featured during the series' first four seasons. After the fall of 1956, the program became more of an "anthology", with semi-regular appearances by Nelson Leigh as "Pastor Martin" (he eventually disappeared by the late '60s). Veteran character actor Robert Clarke, who married one of the King Sisters, made several appearances on "THIS IS THE LIFE".

What a great show. We need to produce such shows now to demonstrate what a family life can be like. It is always possible to renew the good of the past and make it new for the present. Perhaps some entrepreneurial production person will be able to reproduce this type of program with a modern interpretation. It would be a welcome program in today's world.
