A local helicopter flight school in Washington state. The CFI(H) pilot is training a student good hand, eye coordination while hovering knocking over a 28 inch traffic cone. The CFI stated that the student only has around 8hrs of helicopter flight time all of which are in the Robinson R-22 helicopter. He also stated that the student did all the flying and he never touched the controls at all during this flight training session.

  • Wow! Good job! I'm going to ask my CFI if I can try this excercize! Looks like a good coordination excercize!! :D

  • Beautiful, I can't wait to start my flying, this definitely gives me even more motivation than I had before. Nice control and good way to practice precision control. are you gonna have him work on opening bottles with a bottle cap on the end of a skid lol that would be great!

  • @worldenglishclub I believe he could have had 8 hours because i've had no experience in a helicopter and I was landing and takeing off on my 2nd lesson, Also What was the wind conditions. I've done about 10 hours and am practising advanced autorotations. I think it's just down to the individual. HIs just talented. Nice flying. I wonder if the engine failed if it would have tiped the heli or just flattened the cone.

  • I am the CFI that posted this video and I asure you that 8hrs is all he had. I gain and he gains nothing by exaggerating or lying about the hrs. This student was one of those acceptions to being very talented and picking up the flying very fast. He did several flights in one day and this was his third day of flying. He was already a fixed wing guy before he started his training with me. You must remember that everyone learns different. Some pick it up fast but most take a lot longer. Fly safe

  • Im sorry but there is no way this person has only 8 hours of flight. Not with that kind of control. Ive got just over four hours and I can hover decently, but I've only spent about 30 min of hovering time. I don't even believe that if he spent all 8 hours hover practicing, he could fly that proficiently.

  • wow

  • Very nice!Kind of motivating!
