Barinsa is a software for Symbian OS powered camera phones which is able to recognize 1D barcodes. Barinsa can display product information based on recognized or manually entered product codes. Currently the codes that can be found on most products are supported, these are EAN-8, EAN-13, UPC-A, or ISBN-13.
Barinsa can download information from the internet or can use saved information from an on-device database. In contrast to other barcode scanners like gooles Zebra Crossing or big in japans shopsavvy our program is the only one of its kind implemented for Symbian, which owns the largest share of the worldwide mobile device market. Furthermore the presented barcode scanner barinsa implements unique features like the information retrieval with/without internet connection, on-device recognition and usage of an on-device data base, and the display of color-coded food ingredients including the possibility to access background information on such ingredients. Especially we are proud of our programs recognition rate. Extensive tests in real life situations show a nearly 100 percent accuracy. Barcodes can be heavily disorted, shaky, out of fo-cus or in twilight.
"n contrast to other barcode scanners like gooles Zebra Crossing or big in japans shopsavvy our program is the only one of its kind implemented for Symbian ..."
That's not true. There's other barcode scanning software for Symbian, like barcoo or woabi.

@marcoz711 you are right. Now there are other programs that fullfill the same purpose. But I still think, that Barinsa could be a really great competitor.
