  • Hmm, your right. I was completely mistaken, sorry.

  • Oh, so it's compassion to cause businesses to fail from overtaxation?

It's compassion to tax our kids, grandkids and great-grandkids for our health benefits?

It's compassion to artificially limit health care options due to government controls & price-fixing?

Nope. NOR is it compassion the way some of these insurers operate. Let's reform the system, not replace it. Thanks for your thoughts though.

  • I respect your POV but I think that your artificially limiting what our country is capable of. I say if we can have 30 million dollar jets that don't even help us win wars, we can have decent healthcare for every citizen. What's wrong with a little compassion for your fellow Americans who aren't as financially stable?

  • True when it comes to the public health departments we have now to stop epidemics. pollution & the like.

Now as to individual cases... NO.

  • mandate for health care = promote the general welfare! medicare - VA & FDA establish this

constitution is vague on purpose so it can be adaptable for the future.

  • "common defense" is so vague that it could just as readily apply to disease, germs, illness... (Healthcare)

    -Steve

  • Actually the Constitution provides for the "common defense" as per the Preamble:

"We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
