NO one spoke ancient Greek except for the Greeks that are now extinct! From Alexandre and on the koine language developed, which was a mix of every language that lived in the balkans at the time.

If Alexander did not become so big, Greeks of today would have gladly called him Illyrian, or develop some kind of "barbarian theory" of their own, just like they have made up their whole history.
