SHEEP CAN BECOME WOLVES, after 30 years of hard life and of unrecognized hard work, (Gauchos where considered by the others as lazy people and thieves), Juan Moreira became an outlaw, a sort of rural Robin Hood, and later he served as a supporter in the search of new followers, and as a bodyguard for powerful politicians of that time, who promised to clean Moreira's reputation, but they never did so. Moreira, a good man and later a bandit, loved and revered by the poor, was killed by the police in 1874, but he defended himself like a wild animal against them, by killing 19 members of the group which wanted to captured him, only with a knife and a gun, and almost saved his life by jumping a wall, but he was reached by the bayonet of Sergeant Chirino, who lost an eye in the attack. Many Gauchos became bandits fighting against the oppression, discrimination and prejudices that they suffered, due to their wandering way of life. Moreira was killed in the City of LOBOS (Wolves). Now the Gauchos are the representative figure of this country.

  • Very true indeed, pral.

That is what they are doing to the Romani today and it, unfortunately, is changing our people and it is going to bite the haters in the arse. Haters may whine and snivel about the anger WE show... they seem oblivious to the fact that THEY caused it and are continuing their actions.

I would like to see this movie. Is it available in America?

    Sastipe :)

  • I have to fight at times to not have a chip on my shoulder from racism in America towards myself and our folki. If we are open about "what" we are, we have to have our heads about us to not let the dread disease of hate sneak in and we have to have a very thick skin.

I think about our folki in Europe and my mind boggles. If I have to fight it, what goes through THEIR minds? How can they avoid hate?

  • Juan Moreira was an Argentine gaucho who died in 1874, really existed, the movie is 1973 and the Argentinean director Leonardo Favio, is a symbol of the Argentine gaucho rebellion against the injustices of the authority

  • ¡Hola LoljaBernalJohnson! ¿Cómo es usted mi amigo?

¡Acabo de parar por decir hola!

    ~hipretty~

  • Yes, you are right, and I wonder myself, who cares?

  • "they seem oblivious to the fact that THEY caused it and are continuing their actions."

It's true. We didn't open our pockets too willingly. Some people even dared to protest and fight. No wonder that Gypsies now feel distressed.

  • I'm wondering the same question many times
