This skunk has major neurological issues. She didn't do anything normal baby skunks do. All of the other babies this year were perfect except this one. She was so odd that I kept her quarantined during the short time that I had her. I am a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. Animal Advocates, Mary Cummins, http://www.animaladvocates.us

A few days after this video she started acting totally neurological, biting herself, attacking anything, yelling, screaming. I instantly took her to the LA City shelter. The City shelter veterinarian and Officer said she had major neurological issues and should be euthanized. They euthanized her then tested her for rabies.

  • Is it possible she could have been schizophrenic or had a similar cognitive disease?

  • @ShinyTsubasa It's possible. I wish I sent her body to my vet instead of the state lab. My vet would have done a more thorough necropsy. I still wonder what was wrong with her.

  • Did you ever get a more precise diagnosis than "neurological," or is that short for an exact diagnosis? I assume even though the skunk is playing here that the disorder is progressive, and it would have started to have seizures, lost control of its bowel, bladder, and scent, etc, and that euthanasia was the most humane thing to do for it. Very sad. :(

  • @ScisMacGillicutty When they did the necropsy, they only tested for rabies. We will never know what was wrong with her but it was progressive. Sad.

  • @xArbensxMusicx Negative for rabies. They didn't test for anything else. This was the state lab. I wish I sent it to my own lab. I'm so curious.

  • @MaryCummins Did the test come back positive?

  • On the bright side, she knew how to have fun with her imagination.

  • Poor little skunk...

  • 0:21 yup. Convulsions + Charged up behaviour = rabies.

  • @MaryCummins did it kill her?
