Debate Girls on Debate Boys (deleted scene)

In this clip are four high school girls who were filmed at the MSU debate camp in the summer of 2006.

This deleted scene that had to be cut for multiple reasons. One reason is that in the early cuts of the movie, there was a short romance sub-story. When the romance sub-element got cut from the movie (for reasons too elaborate to go into here) the comments about debate boys in this clip seemed out of place.

But I always like this clip, because the girls are cute and they admit, as if it were entirely noncontroversial that there's this difference between what they call "debate boys" and "normal boys."

I find that most of them are a lot smarter and converse at a higher level. At camp, however, they tend to spend a lot of time trying to hook up with the girls.

don't know much about high school debate, but I know plenty of guys who are mature non-debaters, who can have intelligent and fun conversation. the art of conversation and intelligent deliberation is not something that can be mastered solely if you know how to spread, my friends.

and interestingly enough, the only kid in my class who's had sex is a debater.
